Hair Extensions For Your Wedding-Secrets Revealed
Are day of extensions worth it for your wedding day?
In a word YASSSS! Extensions are fabulous and add just the right amount of oomph to any style including giving an updo a full look. While extensions used to have a bad reputation, they’ve come a long way when it comes to quality and technology. Extensions aren’t just for adding length, they can also double or even triple your thickness. If you are only looking for a day of change of pace many brides opt for clip-ins because there’s no commitment required; you just add in the clips when you want longer locks and remove them when you’re done.
What to consider when choosing your extensions.
Get the right color match. Being off even by a shade is a dead giveaway that you’re wearing faux hair. The most accurate way is to color match with the ends of your locks, not the roots, and go with the color that’s the most prominent in your natural hair.
When to purchase. The best time to choose your extensions is right after your last cut and color before your wedding. When planning to purchase and choose your color consider timing it with your trial. Bring your extensions with you to your trial to ensure you and your stylist have ample time to plan your look with your new extensions.
Splurge on quality. I cannot stress this first point enough, DO NOT PURCHASE synthetic extensions! It is like Barbie doll hair and will singe under the heat of iron’s. Additionally, you will NEVER find the right color to fully match or blend with your hair. Non-virgin hair means it’s been processed—either dyed or treated to change its texture—so it’s also not ideal, since it’s more damaged.
Remy extensions are the highest quality. They’re the closest to your real hair, they can be flat ironed, curled and blown out just like your natural hair allowing them to hold styles and texture the same way and won’t shed as much as the cheaper options.
What type of extensions should you choose. If given a choice between clip in day of extensions or halo extensions we recommend you choose the clip in style for your day of extensions. Clip ins are the superior choice allowing your stylist to clip them in as they are styling your hair making it super duper easy to hide the clips sot there is no line at embarkation.
Halos ore one thick track of hair on an elastic band, and while a halo might be a little less in price you will be losing so many options for styling your hair on your wedding day.
For clip-ins, look for a silicone cushion on the clips to prevent tangles and breakage.
Preparing your day of extensions
You need to wash the extensions before the stylist secures them into your hair. Sizing and other chemicals are added to the hair to keep it looking pretty and salable in the package during shipping. Sizing can interfere with the curl having a long lasting hold. Give them a little bath in your sink and dry them on a towel. Use a shampoo and conditioner free of sulfates and parabens, and blot them with a towel to remove excess water, then let them air dry.
