Tips & Advice | Coronavirus/COVID-19 Wedding Makeup Questions Answered
You’re not alone when it comes to figuring out how to move forward with your wedding day plans during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
Couples around the world have had to postpone their plans and cope with the realization that their wedding day might not turn out exactly how they envisioned it. With guidelines for social distancing and sheltering in place varying not only from state to state but from country to country, none of us know exactly when things will return to what they are now calling the “new normal” will be. To help you keep moving forward with your wedding day beauty plans we’ve gathered some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we’ve received from brides about how they can prepare for their wedding day once it arrives.
Q: My wedding day was scheduled for early spring and now it looks like it will be a fall wedding, do I need to rethink my hairstyle?
A: Don’t get caught up in trends. Whether your hair is long or short, thick or thin, blonde, brunette or red, choose a style that fits your personality that truly reflects the most beautiful version of you. While you’re sheltering in place and looking for ways to keep your mind occupied do some experimenting of your own and take lots of selfies. When the day comes for your hair and makeup trial you’ll have plenty of inspiration to share with your beauty team.
Q: I’ve been eating too much junk food during “quarantine” and it’s reeking havoc on my skin, are there options that are better for my skin?
A: You’re not alone! Stress causes the best of us to go for our comforting favorites. Drink plenty of water each day and balance your snacking with naturally hydrating foods like watermelon, super foods like grapefruit, cucumbers, tomatoes and kale. Go easy on the caffeine as well, go for a beetroot-packed super-juice instead! The high concentration of nitric oxide has an energizing effect on your skin and body.
Q: What should I do to protect my skin now that states are loosening the shelter in place orders and we’re able to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and beaches?
A: Your skin is worth protecting in every season, choose use a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen that provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays with a minimum spf of 30. Additionally, remember to moisturize both morning and night, both central heating and A/C dry our skin. For more check out our Tanning Tips For Brides.
Q: My lips are so chapped from being locked down with the A/C and fans running constantly, do you have any lip care tips you can give me?
A: Exfoliate! Hydrate! Gently exfoliate your lips with a gentle sugar scrub like Fresh’s Sugar Lip Polish. Hydrate with lip products that have nourishing ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter, or petroleum jelly. (only use medicated lip products if you have cold sores or fever blisters). Stay clear of flavored balms or those that contain mint, menthol or cinnamon. Many of these contain artificial colors or dyes that can dry the lips with extended use.
Q: Postponing my wedding and having to plan things over and over again is just stressing me out completely and it’s giving me dark circles under my eyes, what can I do to reduce them?
A: Get plenty of rest. Pace yourself ! Whether its working on your wedding favors or just going about your day to day activities, SLEEP! Sleep it’s what heals us. Getting an ample amount of sleep helps to improve your over all complexion, helps get rid those dark circles, relieves stress and improves your disposition overall. Applying a cold compress can help shrink dialated blood vessels and reduce the appearance of puffiness. Try elevating your head when you sleep to help prevent pooling under the eyes. And again, we can’t stress this enough when it comes to taking care of the skin you’re in, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!
