Chic Wedding Day Updos

Hello! Welcome to Makeup In The 702!  This week we’re talking about the updo, timeless, classic and perfect for any season.

Planning your wedding is full of “bridal moments” and finding that perfect hairstyle is probably among those at the top of the list. Updos work well for long to medium hair, can be dressed down, embellished, twisted, worn high or low, sleek or messy, whatever your hearts desire there’s an updo for you.   Since you can never have too much inspiration we’ve gathered some of our favorite looks from recent Makeup In The 702 Brides.

Slightly messy updo’s are a fantastic choice, since they are messy by nature, they are incredibly unique so you’re not likely to run across anyone twinning your look on Pinterest.

Gorgeous textured updo styles add beautiful dimension to your wedding day hairstyle.  They’ll leave you feeling fancy and are virtually worry free.

Just as embellishments can change the look of a wedding gown they can next level your wedding day hair style.  From sparkly head pieces, bling barrettes,  fresh florals to romantic pearls… the possibilities are endless.

The updo is a veils best friend!  If you are planning to wear a low to mid set updo there are three sweet spots to secure your veil.  Placed at the crown your veil will elongate your neckline, placing directly at the top  of your head will add balance to heavier gowns or gowns with sleeves.  If your gown has a low back or an illusion back consider tucking your veil below your updo to create or tucked below to create a visually balanced look from the back.

Don’t rule out the classic Chignon,  the word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou”, which means nape of the neck. Chignons are generally achieved by pinning the hair into a knot at the nape of the neck or at the back of the head, but there are many modern and trending variations of this classic eye catching style.
