6 Cold Weather Skincare Tips for Your Winter Wedding
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s also the perfect time to modify your beauty routine.
“Good skin and good color go hand in hand!”
Here’s a few tips to keep you fresh and fabulous for your winter wedding and the holiday season.
Take extra care to moisturize both morning and night during the winter month’s.
The chill in the air may give you that give your cheeks that natural rosy look but it’s also a dehydration nightmare. It’s easy to let this one slip by because we typically associate dryness with the summer heat. During the winter months the hot showers, cold winds, central heating, and dry air can leave our skin and lips chapped and cracked. As long as we’re talking dehydration DON”T FORGET THE WATER! Good old H2O is essential all year long, especially for those of us living in desert climates and taking care of your skin starts from within.
Go easy on the cocktails.
If you’re planning your wedding in the height of holiday party season it’s easy to indulge in the flow of holiday spirits. Alcohol can make you look and feel puffy especially in that under eye area it also dilates your blood vessels, which can lead to redness in your skin pigments.
Cookies, cakes and pie OH MY!
The holiday season is full of sweet treats, all is fair in moderation but exercise caution and don’t over do it. Sugar leads to glaciation, a process in which excess glucose molecules cling to your collagen, distorting it and leading it to be stiff.
Get plenty of rest.
The cold weather is the perfect excuse to lay in a little extra and grab a few extra winks. Pace yourself whether its working on your wedding favors or attending an ugly sweater party you need your rest. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep it’s what heals us. Getting an ample amount of sleep helps to improve your complexion, helps get rid those dark circles, relieves stress and improves your disposition overall.
Sunscreen…sunscreen…sunscreen!
This one might sound like a summer skincare tip but the winter rays are just as harsh especially for those of us that enjoy the outdoors in the low temps. UVA are always present and dangerous, they penetrate deeper into the skin damaging deeper skin layers which can lead to premature aging and increase your risk of other dermatological damage and cancer. Your skin is worth protecting year round, we recommend a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen that provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays with a minimum spf of 30. Remember to apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before spending extended time in the sun. For everyday use, begin your makeup routine with your sunscreen, then primer followed by your foundation.
Don’t forget that party perfect pout
Exfoliate your lips to get rid of all of the dry, dead skin so you can wear gorgeous lipstick. Using a lip scrub regularly will keep your lips smooth and kissable for your wedding day and all season long.
