No matter how much painstaking time we put into planning our wedding there are some things we can control and there are some things we cannot control. Here’s some insider tips to help you plan ahead and avoid some of the most common mistakes brides make when it comes to your bridal beauty.
Allow enough time for hair and makeup.
You’re makeup artist and hair stylist are the first vendors you’ll see for the day. They set the pace for everything! The timeliness of hair and makeup sets the tone for the entire timeline for the brides day.
Typically the day starts early and it’s easy to lose track of time while you’re celebrating with your besties and bridal party behind the scene. There’s selfies to take, champagne and toasts to make and enjoying those last single girl moments, memories that will last a lifetime. Hiring a professional beauty team will help you stay on track!
On the day of your wedding you should be relaxed!
Totally chill and filled with excitement as you get ready to glam up for the day. Don’t give your bridal party to much say so. Let your stylist do the planning and directing. They will know what works best when it comes to the order in which each person having hair and makeup done should be in the chair. They’ll work closely with the photographer to ensure you’re ready when they are.
When to book your beauty team!
You should book your Hair Stylist and Makeup Artist as soon as you establish your ceremony time and your first look with your photographer. This allows us to use our expertise to create your timeline so nobody feels stressed, pressed or rushed once they are in the chair. Giving everyone plenty of time to get out the door and arrive on time.
Don’t forget to plan for the weather!
It’s monsoon season here in the desert and the weather can be quite unpredictable throughout the day. If your hair tends to frizz in humidity be sure to pack some frizz fighting serum and remember to let your stylist know in advance how your hair reacts to different weather so they can plan ahead to make sure your locks are on point for your day.
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the desert winds. They can kick up when you’re least expecting it. This isn’t so much an issue if you’re planning an indoor ceremony and reception however, if your plans include capturing the moments in our stunning southern Nevada desert our advice is go with the flow. We’ve got you girl!

What to wear!
Those cute robes and button down jammies you aren’t just a style choice for super cute photo ops, they’re functional too. For those having hair and/or makeup done on your day choosing something that doesn’t need to go over the head to change into their gowns is essential! Since they slip off easily without going over your head you won’t mess up any of the work your stylist and makeup artist work.
They’re also preventative! There to catch stray makeup dust, hair spray overspray and prevent any mishaps to formal wear from accidents with any food or drink you might have in the bridal suite.
It’s okay to tell us if you don’t like something!
We’re not saying it’s cool to go all “Karen Like” on your stylist or artist but we do want you to know that it’s okay to tell us if you don’t like a particular color or are not feeling the style. Brides hopefully have gone through a hair and makeup trial and worked out all of the particulars prior to the day of. Your bridal party most likely has not. We want everyone in your party to spend the day feeling their best and looking like the most beautiful version of themselves on your day. We encourage everyone in our chairs to give us feedback.
To tip or not to tip? Often a forgotten item in your budget.
It’s a question we get often. Wedding hair stylists and bridal makeup artists are no different than your fave nail tech or your go to beauty salon.
