We’ve been sharing the love story of Kylie and Jace with you since their engagement and we are SO very happy to share this chapter with you today! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! What a wonderful day it was so filled with love, family and joy. Now that Kylie has had a chance to catch her breath we asked her to share their planning experience with us, she has some really great tips for planning couples that we hope you find helpful if you’re planning your day.
“Our wedding was an absolute dream come true. From start to finish we both felt so surrounded with love and support that my heart and smile were bursting open the whole day.
Jace and I live in Las Vegas and were planning a wedding in Pensacola, FL, where we both grew up. At first glance this long distance project seemed a little daunting, and on several occasions it was mentioned (by other people) that we ditch it all and get married at a chapel down town- but once we figured out what was most important to us, all the detail fell into place.
We met during the summer of 2004, the week after we graduated high school. Since then it has been it has been a nonstop adventure- we love spending time with and visiting our friends and family that are scattered around the world, we love cooking and eating great food, we love dancing, traveling, laughing and are just generally laid back and light hearted folks by nature. Those were the things that we wanted the most at our wedding.
We wanted to spend our day, eating delicious local Southern food, sipping plenty of champagne and tasty brew, and dancing to good music in a beautiful place- all in the company of our favorite people. It was also very important for us to keep the costs and stress level as low as possible.
By keeping this mission in mind, when various costs, questions, problems or decisions came up it was easy to keep our focus.
We found out that the least expensive flowers available in the fall are white- we chose white flowers!!!
With several pregnant bridesmaids and a few with vastly different heights (5’1-6’0) it was impossible to find a dress every one was comfortable with- we picked a dress that could be worn 25 different ways!!!
Elaborate and intricate table decorations and place settings would have added hours of prep time and hundreds of dollars- we decided to keep set up and break down as simple as possible.
My advise to newly engaged couples planning a wedding would be to really think about the things that have been importation to you both leading up to the wedding.
Are you guys sci-fi buffs?
Do you share a love of fiction or poetry?
Do you have an artistic flair?
Is their a culture or tradition you want to honor and acknowledge?
Once you have a basic frame work of what you really value and what you want your experience to be, all the blogs, websites, inspiration boards, magazines and stores become a little less intimidating.
Because we live so far away from “home” and we both have family all over the country we knew that the biggest task would be getting all of the people who are special to us in the same place. We were so touched by how many of our loved ones made such an effort to share our new adventure with us.
