Falling In Love

Many people get bummed to see summer come to a close. With the end of swimsuit season, no more fruity drinks with umbrellas and the days beginning to get shorter- it’s easy to see why folks could get the blues.

But then there are those people who absolutely LOVE the autumn!! Those that start at NYE to count down the days to Halloween and Thanksgiving. Those that want ALL the pumpkin spice things. Those who were meant to live in boots, jeans and flannels. For those people, this is a time to rejoice!!! This week we’ve put together a list of our favorite fall wedding trends- hope you love them as much as we do!!

METALLICS

Rose golds, platinums, bronze and silvers have been hot on the scene for about a year on every thing from phone cases to popular eyeshadow pallets, serving trays and home decor.

And as so many trends before, as goes fashion industry, so goes the wedding industry shortly after. This fall expect to see these luxurious and lavish tones EVERY WHERE- bridesmaids dresses, cakes, table scape, stationary and seating charts and just about any where else brides and grooms can cover in these glitzy hues.

 GAMES

Since the temperatures are far more tolerable than they were just a few weeks ago, plan on spending a bit of the cocktail hours playing laid back games with family friends and the bridal party.

A little bit of play time with Jenga, Bocce, or Corn Hole is a total blast for guests to play at the beginning of a reception but they are also a smart move to keep your loved ones occupied while bride, groom and wedding party are taking the formal photos after the ceremony.
Games are also a great gift idea for couples starting their new life together (many of whom are also moving in together or getting a new place to live) and one of my favorite features is that its a great opportunity for more personalizations and monograms!!!! Which weddings can always use more of!!

FURRY FRIENDS

Im not exactly sure why the trend of absolutely adorable animals at a wedding seems to have really picked up right as fall kicked off- maybe its the drop in the temperature, maybe there is a petting zoo connection…..who knows, but I am loving it!!!

There is a whole mini- industry popping up where you can rent these lovely llama guests for your wedding or any other special occasion!!

From bunny, llama, fancy chickens, goats, mini- pigs….expect to see the whole farm at weddings this season. Here are some more really adorable animal inspired weddings

BIG PAPER FLORALS

Whether using these giant hand crafted blooms as bouquets or as background decor, paper flowers area  great choice because they are just so incredibly versatile. You have so many more options and avenues to be unique and expressive when you are creating something on your own.

If you elect to make them your self, they could be quite a bit more time intensive than simply ordering fresh cuts, but there is no denying that paper and fabric are quite a bit less expensive than the real things.  See some of the best tutorials we found on the web here, for making them your self.

There are so many beautiful and creative ways to express your self at your wedding during the fall. If you think we missed your favorite- leave us a line in the comments!!

And as always, CONGRATULATIONS to all our stunning brides getting married this fall!!

The Beauty Is In The Simplicity

“Color is everything, black and white is more.” – Dominic Rouse

B&W 2

Chelsea Nicole Photography

Black and white pictures are a complex creature- there is classic and simple elegance to them- something that hints at a time gone by when full color images were not available. Yet there is also a complex and mysterious aspect there as well- what are we missing when we don’t see the colors present in that fleeting moment? What is left for us to discover for our selves?

This week we share some of the most eye catching and show stopping images from our past clients, taken by the incredibly talented collection of wedding photographers that we are lucky enough to work with here in the Las Vegas wedding community.

A little “pop” of color

As the seasons are changing and the temperatures are dropping, the warm sweaters come out and the coffee becomes pumpkin-ized, beautiful pops of color can be found all around Las Vegas too!!! We are talking about the fun pops of pink, red, yellow and orange accents that our beautiful fall bride Lindsey chose to doll her bridesmaids up with.

We met up with Lindsey and her delightful bridesmaids at the Bellagio on the morning of her wedding to start the day off with pampering and primping. These lovely ladies were such a good time!!! There were silly jokes and stories being told, thoughtful champagne toasts being made, and once Lindsey gave her best girlies their thank you gift and a touching heartfelt note- plenty of happy tears.

Once Lindsey and the ladies in her bridal party and family were dolled up and ready to roll, they headed to Canyon Gate Country Club for the excitement to begin. It was at Lindsey and Cody’s wedding ceremony- performed by Angie of Peachy Keen Unions- that we saw one of the most personal and touching wedding traditions to date- a ring warming ceremony. If you’ve never heard of it, you are not alone, but the concept is simple enough- at the beginning of your service, the officiant lets those in attendants know that the wedding rings will be making their way through the guests, with an invitation for each of them to hold the ring, say a silent prayer or set an intention for your new marriage and then pass it on to the next guest. Eventually making it to the couple at the front for the exchanging of the vows.

Kylie & Jace Keep The Mission In Mind

October 23, 2015

We’ve been sharing the love story of Kylie and Jace with you since their engagement and we are SO very happy to share this chapter with you today! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! What a wonderful day it was so filled with love, family and joy. Now that Kylie has had a chance to catch her breath we asked her to share their planning experience with us, she has some really great tips for planning couples that we hope you find helpful if you’re planning your day.

“Our wedding was an absolute dream come true. From start to finish we both felt so surrounded with love and support that my heart and smile were bursting open the whole day.
Jace and I live in Las Vegas and were planning a wedding in Pensacola, FL, where we both grew up. At first glance this long distance project seemed a little daunting, and on several occasions it was mentioned (by other people) that we ditch it all and get married at a chapel down town- but once we figured out what was most important to us, all the detail fell into place.
We met during the summer of 2004, the week after we graduated high school. Since then it has been it has been a nonstop adventure- we love spending time with and visiting our friends and family that are scattered around the world, we love cooking and eating great food, we love dancing, traveling, laughing and are just generally laid back and light hearted folks by nature. Those were the things that we wanted the most at our wedding.
We wanted to spend our day, eating delicious local Southern food, sipping plenty of champagne and tasty brew, and dancing to good music in a beautiful place- all in the company of our favorite people. It was also very important for us to keep the costs and stress level as low as possible.
By keeping this mission in mind, when various costs, questions, problems or decisions came up it was easy to keep our focus.
We found out that the least expensive flowers available in the fall are white- we chose white flowers!!!
With several pregnant bridesmaids and a few with vastly different heights (5’1-6’0) it was impossible to find a dress every one was comfortable with- we picked a dress that could be worn 25 different ways!!!
Elaborate and intricate table decorations and place settings would have added hours of prep time and hundreds of dollars- we decided to keep set up and break down as simple as possible.

My advise to newly engaged couples planning a wedding would be to really think about the things that have been importation to you both leading up to the wedding.
Are you guys sci-fi buffs?
Do you share a love of fiction or poetry?
Do you have an artistic flair?
Is their a culture or tradition you want to honor and acknowledge?
Once you have a basic frame work of what you really value and what you want your experience to be, all the blogs, websites, inspiration boards, magazines and stores become a little less intimidating.
Because we live so far away from “home” and we both have family all over the country we knew that the biggest task would be getting all of the people who are special to us in the same place. We were so touched by how many of our loved ones made such an effort to share our new adventure with us.

Leave the details to Paulina

Planning a wedding is largely about the details and the logistics whether your planning a small garden event or a destination wedding from abroad working with a professional planner can greatly reduce the anxiety of planning the most exciting day of your life. Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to a vendor we love, Paulina Clute. Originally from New Orleans she now calls Las Vegas her home, her “Mardis Gras” flair is a perfect fit for our city! So without further adieu…..please meet Paulina Clute, of Paulina Clute Events, LLC.

Hey Y’all, I’m Paulina…the ringleader behind Paulina Clute Events, LLC. I first fell in love with the idea of being a wedding planner at 17. I assisted a high-end wedding planner on a huge wedding in New Orleans, where I grew up. I was hooked. Though it took me until last year to officially launch my own business, it’s really always been my passion. Since then, we’ve figured out some great ways of tailoring our services to exactly what our clients are in need of. We offer all customized planning packages. From a full service planning experience, to a day of coordination package, there really is an option to fit everyone’s needs and budget. In this last year, I’ve been privileged to have Makeup in the 702 as part of my vendor team on numerous occasions. On a day where there are so many things to make sure are perfect, it’s a treat to not have to worry about all the girls hair and makeup. The artists will be early, my clients needs will be met, and the end result will be flawless.
What would you like a planning couple to know about your business?
Planning a wedding is an exciting and stressful time for the newly engaged. There are so many avenues to be navigated. Having someone on your side to walk you through the process is invaluable. A lot of couples see a wedding planner as an unnecessary expense or luxury. In my opinion, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Though you may not need/want a wedding planner to be there at every turn, at minimum, a day of coordinator will ensure that all the details you’ve planned out over the last year are executed.
What are the benefits of using your service?
There are so many benefits to hiring a wedding planner or day of coordinator. First of all, if you’ve started the planning process, you know there are a million details. You’ll probably find yourself making tons of phone calls, sending email after email, scheduling appointments and meetings, and worrying if you’re making the right decisions. That all ends once a wedding planner steps in. With our complete wedding planning package, you only call, email, or text me. I handle all of the back and worth communication. The middleman is cut out. Appointments and meetings are scheduled to your convenience….after all, you are the customer. We’re here to give you advice. To help you choose the right photographer to fit your style, the right florist to create the bouquet you’ve always dreamed of, and the perfect DJ for your kind of party. Because this is what we do week in and week out, we know what vendors are going to be best for you. It’s more than just seeing a great photo online and deciding on a photographer. We see behind the scenes. Is this photographer intrusive during the ceremony? How quickly and organized do they get the family and group photos done? Maybe it’s helping you word your invitations because your parents are divorced? Or calling the guest that RSVP’d a plus one, when that wasn’t indicated on the invitation. We’re here to help you at every turn. To make sure the correct song is played when it’s supposed to be. To ensure your new husband has a Jack and Coke in hand. To remind the caterer that Julie at table 5 has a gluten allergy. All the details that you’ve thought about while laying in bed at night, your wedding planner is there to make sure doesn’t get overlooked or forgotten.
It must be quite a challenge to come up with new ideas, Where do you find your inspiration?
After every wedding is wrapped, I sit down and have a meeting with myself. I go over the day. What were the highlights? What worked best? Where can we improve? It really is my last event that inspires to push through and raise the bar for the next one. There is such high I feel when I finally get in my car (at whatever ungodly hour it might be) after a wedding and think, “I just helped make all of their dreams come true! Now let’s do it again, only better!” I also love the fresh ideas being brought to me by my new clients. I love hearing my clients vision, then sitting down and researching how to make it come to life. I’ll find myself laying in bed at night thinking of a creative new floor plan, then next thing you know I’m on my phone pulling up diagrams to see if it will work. It’s so fun to be able to incorporate my past experiences with new clients dreams…and make them come to life!

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers today?
As you begin the wedding planning journey, please don’t forget what it’s all about. Of course, you want this day to be more than you’ve ever dreamed of, to be the best day of your life…but you must remember the reason you’re doing this. The ultimate goal; that is to commit your life to your partner, to begin your life with your soul mate, beyond that, you’re just throwing a great party!

Thank you so much for spending some time with us today Paulina! Please take a moment to visit Puaulina Clute Events online at www.PaulinaCluteEvents.com learn more about the amazing services she provides.

Being a a makeup artist in the extreme heat of the Southern Nevada comes with it’s own unique challenge.  Adding our guarantee of a 15-hour water and transfer resistant services really puts us to the test!  I’d say we passed!  Today we get to share with you this beautiful real wedding from the Valley of Fire.  I just love our radiant desert and Nicky is just drop dead gorgeous!

Picture1

Your hair stylist and makeup artist are typically the first vendor a bride will interact with on their wedding day.  We have the responsibility of setting the pace for the day and we take that responsibility VERY seriously!  Not only do we set the time line for the day we often times help settle those OMG this is it feelings of nervousness.

No one can share their experience better than the bride…that being said, this is what Nicky had to say.

Nicole said…
I had contacted Megan Payne about 6 months before my Vegas destination wedding. She was friendly and professional and promptly answered all my questions. On my big day, Kiera and Crystal showed up at 5:45 am as promised (I got married at the Valley of Fire and the time was 11:00 am). We did introductions and Crystal started on my hair. Crystal was chatty and super sweet. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she re-created it with ease. Next I was over to Kiera for makeup. We found that we had some things in common and ended up having a little heart to heart chat while she was doing my makeup. What a beautiful soul Kiera has. I wish her all the best in the world. My girls & I were done almost an hour earlier than promised which was nice. It gave us a bit of time to take pictures and hang out before the limo picked us up. I can’t thank Megan and the girls at Makeup in the 702 enough for starting my day off right. If you are thinking about using their services, don’t hesitate one bit. They are fantastic! I can be contacted at any time if anyone has any questions about these ladies and the services they offer. Thank you Makeup in the 702.. until our paths cross again (Perhaps for a vow re-newal one day 😉 ) Nicky B.”

We’re very proud of the services we provide and I couldn’t be more proud of my incredible team of stylists and makeup artists. This week we celebrate a very awesome milestone! 900 reviews! Thank you to each and every bride that has taken the time to share their experience with us and thank you for choosing us to be a part of your day.

Antonette & Donnie A Love Story filled with family and friends

This story was originally published by our very dear friends and vendor we love “The Emerics!”  It’s the love story of Antonette & Donnie.  Their love story started with a blind date that according to Antonette went “amazingly well”  followed by a Valentines flower delivery that went “horribly wrong” but in the end made perfect!   It’s so refreshing to see truly happy people!

Planning a destination wedding always has it’s unique challenges which is why it is more important than ever to work with local professional vendors to bridge the global gap.  We truly enjoyed meeting Antonette and being a part of this gorgeous wedding at the Fireside Lounge at the Aria.  Their day was filled with lots of little details that made every nuance a memory for both the happy couple and their guests.

Please see below the original post from Jessie & Jason and all of the INCREDIBLE moments they captured.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

NARS Cosmetics- Product Review from Makeup In The 702

August 21, 2015

We love new stuff here at Makeup In The 702 so when we were asked to take the new Audacious mascara from NARS Cosmetics for a spin we gladly accepted the invitation.

We put the new Audacious mascara  to the test over a 2 week period of time, typically during a 15 hour work day in the extreme Las Vegas temperatures.

Our findings!  We found the handle to be extremely lightweight and easy to get up close and personal with the lash line. Simply wiggling the wand back and forth for the first coat and then and upward motion for the second coat. The product itself dried quickly which was important to us so the tips of the lashes did not place mascara on the lid we just put eye-shadow on!

The end result- this mascara did in fact make good on it’s claims. It was lightweight and long-wearing.  Still in the testing phase is just how long the product stays fresh day to day and how long it will be before we need to replace the tube. We’ll keep you posted on those results.

About NARS Cosmetics

NARS-Audacious-Mascara-6-700x525NARS Cosmetics is a Shiseido-owned cosmetics and skin care company founded by François Nars, make-up artist and photographer. The cosmetics line began with twelve lipsticks sold at Barneys New York.

We are so lucky to have a NARS Pro store at the Forum Shops here in Las Vegas. And even more lucky to have PRO products not sold in department stores at our fingertips. As an artist we continue to educate ourselves and test products before adding them to our arsenal of products in our kits. This month NARS launched a new mascara- Audacious. Personally and professionally I feel mascara is one of the keys to a long lasting look. We all need our mascara to not smudge under eye, glide on to the lashes effortlessly and of course not flake.

Company Claim:

Picture1Intensity for the making. Control for the taking. From instant definition to blindsiding impact, every layer multiplies. Amplifies. Mesmerizes.

Designed with over 200 molded bristles and lengthening hooks, NARS’ lash-catching brush evenly grips and coats lashes from roots to tips. Simultaneously separates, lengthens, and amplifies. Its tapered tip finishes off the inner and outer reaches of your imagination, while enhancing lower lashes.
An extraordinary balance of suppleness with staying power, this uniquely fluid first-to-market formula offers extreme build-ability. Lightweight. Long-wearing.

Don’t forget this weekend is the Bridal Spectacular. August 21 & 22nd as Cashman Center stop by and see us in booth #533!

DIY Bridal Shower With A Little Help From My Friends

August 18, 2015

Picture3First and foremost I must admit I am no planner or event stylist but planning this bridal shower was so much fun I just may rethink my career. Just kidding!  I could not have done it without a little help from my friends!  Photographer Matthew Schenk from MPlace Productions, Kathryn Starrett, Catering Director, Siena Golf Club,   Tiffany Scheree Jones from Peridot Sweets, Cake and favors, Flowers from Trader Joes and of course hair and makeup for the beautiful bride to be from Makeup in the 702, favors from Williams Sonoma Designer and of course the wonderful staff at the Siena Golf Club.

A few months ago we blogged about Kylie and Jace’s engagement session with Mackenzie Taylor. Today I’m here to share Kylie’s bridal shower.

Since their wedding is in Pensacola, Florida and of course we are in the desert, I wanted to bring a bit of the beach to them with the table design and decor for the room. My inspiration for the color scheme came from the goldfish which when I started planning I knew would be the main focal point.

I accented the table with white flowers, skipping stones and orange candles to carry along the orange theme. Of course this theme was carried through on the gift table, cake table and the brunch buffet.

Throughout the planning process Kathryn kept in contact with me always willing to lend advice and a helping hand. During setup no only did she help but offered glass wear, cake stand and valuable advice to help keep my vision in line.

Thank you to all that helped make Kylie’s day as success! Stayed dialed in for Kylie & Jace’s wedding premiering in late September. Until then you can see all of us including Kylie at the Bridal Spectacular bridal show on August 21 and 22 at Cashman center. Makeup in the 702 will be sponsoring the hair and makeup for the fashion show and showing the latest trends for your wedding day. See you there booth #533!
