It’s Bridal Show Season!!!

Well that special time of year has come……

IT’S BRIDAL SHOW SEASON!!

The biggest and most well known event in our area for more than two decades is Bridal Spectacular, and we are so excited to be there again at

Booth #109 this August 18th and 19th.

Bridal conventions and show are a great opportunity to get some serious day dreaming and planning done in a short amount of time, but with all those vendors and attendants the job can be a bit over whelming.

So we’ve put together some tips on how to get the most out of your time there.

HAVE A PLAN

When you first walk on to the bridal show floor it can be a little bit overwhelming. The space is gigantic, the crowds can be crazy and there are literally hundreds of different vendors there that provide dozens of different wedding services- from caterers to makeup artist……they are all going to be there.

Have an idea of your the colors you are loving at the moment. Are you wanting to be a spring bride and planning for possible showers or envisioning your first kiss under the trees as the fall colors change to deep reds and yellow?

What about your budget? Is this something that you and your partner are going to foot the bill for? How many guests are you thinking? A small ceremony with a few dozen guests enjoying an intimate dinner? Or a rocking party with hundreds taking over the dance floor.

It will help you tremendously to keep some of these things in mind.

ENLIST YOUR A TEAM

Unless you’re planning private and romantic elopement  (which so many of our clients do as well) you’re almost guaranteed to have a “team” or “squad” of people in your life that want to be part of your day and will do just about anything to see you and your future spouse happy at your wedding.

Whether it’s your mom, aunt, cousins, soon-to-be-mother/sister-in-law, best girlfriend or……heck……even your brother or dad!!!!! Make these folks feel special and ask for their help and support. Walking up and down the seemingly endless aisles can be intimidating and daunting to say the least- having people by your side, who love you and have been filled in on your vision for the wedding will help keep you focused and eliminate a lot of the of the extra noise.

ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

In the days leading up to the bridal show, before you even step foot in the convention center, think of what you are going there for. Great questions to ask your self are “What have I already got planned/booked/paid a deposit on?” , “What am I still missing?” , “What is my over all budget?” and “What are my “splurge” items/services?

By asking your self these questions (and really thinking about the answers) you can save a HUGE amount of time and focus your efforts at the bridal show.  If you’ve already booked your dream photog, then you can easily eliminate a few booths. If you are ordering a delicious custom cake to be delivered from your favorite bakery in your home town, then make sure to keep that in mind.

MAKE REAL CONNECTIONS

As has been mentioned, there are A LOT of vendors to see and people to meet at these mega shows, there is absolutely no possible way you are going to get to know and connect with all of them.

Just like a networking event it’s easy to make your rounds at a bridal show, shake plenty of hands, collect lots of business cards and then get home to start looking over your look and realize you don’t even remember any of those names or what it is that they do.Makeup In The 702 Lipstick Bar-Casey Jade Photography

Once you’ve asked your self about your budget, time line, colors, theme- make the most of your time by focusing on the vendors that meet your remaining needs but are also people you genuinely like!!! As there are dozens of different services offered to brides there are also dozens of different personalities, its important to work with vendors that you vibe with. Those that see the vision for your special day.

ENJOY YOUR SELF!!!

There are countless resources- be they magazines, blogs, forums or bridal shows- go mine through while you are planning your wedding. It is important to remember what the whole celebration is about. While planning a fabulous party is always at the front of mind the most vital part of this experience is remembering that two people who love each other endlessly are coming together to celebrate that devotion.

Don’t rush it. Don’t stress it. Take a breath and take it all in. These moments will absolutely fly by, so be sure to slow down and absorb the moment that you are currently in.

50 States 50 Weddings

We, at Makeup In The 702 have been in the Las Vegas wedding industry for quite awhile now. We have also been privileged and honored to work with, what we believe to be some the most genuinely kind, caring and talented professionals in the industry.

Through various events and organizations we regularly get to see and collaborate with Las Vegas wedding vendors like florists, bakers, photographers, seamstresses, designers and planners, but its not every day we get to mingle and meet our peers in other markets across the nation. When we got The Knots list of  “50 Wow- Worthy Weddings Across all 50 States” it was exciting not only because we LOVE swooning over beautiful celebrations of love, but we get a chance to see how things are done across the country.

While I wish we could share all 50 off these gorgeous celebrations we picked out a few of the states that hold a special place in the heart of the Makeup In The 702 team. Enjoy!!

 ILLINOIS

As their wedding week approached, Eric and Michael began to realize that if the Cubs won the World Series, their victory parade could end up happening the day of their wedding—and possibly going past their venue, the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. “As fate would have it, these events did collide but in an amazingly fun way,” Michael says. “Fortunately, nothing about the parade interfered with our wedding, it only added to the celebration. Many of our favorite photos of that day were us out and about with parade-goers and the wedding party having the time of our lives.”

FLORIDA

A wedding arch covered in Monstera leaves, Key lime pie and pineapple boutonnieres exuded historic Floridian culture for McKenzie and Chris’s oceanside wedding.

 MASSACHUSETTS

“Having met in the choir at college, music was the prominent focus of Desta and Benjamin’s rustic-chic wedding at Charles River Museum. During the ceremony, Benjamin surprised Desta by serenading her with a rendition of Leon Bridges’ “Coming Home,” accompanied by close friends who sang backup and played the guitar and saxophone. (A choir even performed a benediction to bless the reception dinner.)”

RHODE ISLAND

“In just three months, Holly and Roger planned an elegant DIY affair with a subtle bohemian twist at the Providence Public Library. “When we walked into the Providence Public Library, the architecture alone took our breath away,” Holly says. The couple incorporated elements that spoke to their New England locale, affording friends and family a taste of local flavor. In lieu of a traditional champagne toast, Holly and Roger opted for a chowder toast, providing each guest with mini mugs of New England clam chowder garnished with bite-size clam cakes.”

 WASHINGTON DC

“No celebration in the nation’s capital would be complete without a few nods to history, and Kate and Nick didn’t disappoint, gathering their friends and family at the National Museum of Women in the Arts for a blowout bash in their hometown of Washington, DC. The reception kicked off with cocktail hour in the galleries, where guests enjoyed Champagne Sparkles, live music and the museum’s myriad of artwork. To allow the unique features of the venue to shine through, the couple opted for a clean, elegant aesthetic for the reception, complete with mirrored tabletops, lush bouquets of full white blooms and gold-rimmed stemware.”

LOUISIANA

Brooke and Paul showcased Louisiana’s natural beauty by saying “I do” under a Spanish moss tree “in the swamp.” Their breezy, boho vibe paired with seafood gumbo and a ride on a pontoon boat rounded out the dreamy affair.

ARIZONA

The state’s desert colors, petrology and various species of cacti accented the bohemian vibe of Christa and Jesse’s waterfront vows.

MONTANA

At Sarah and George’s Western wedding, a horse-drawn wagon transported guests from the ceremony cliffside to the reception at a ranch.

SOUTH DAKOTA

An inviting lounge in Morgan and Bryan’s hometown kept the December chill away for the couple’s holiday-inspired nuptials.

UTAH

Since Marie and Chase love the outdoors, they exchanged vows at a natural history museum with views of the Wasatch Mountains.

To see more breath taking weddings from across the country be sure to check out the rest of them at The Knot.

I Love You a BRUNCH!!!

Recently we have seen two of our very favorite things coming together to create a new fun bridal trend- WEDDING BRUNCH!!!

While there are SO many things to love about morning wedding celebrations and the breakfast and brunch receptions to follow, here are some of our favorite things about the fabulous new brunch wedding trend-

COFFEE

Whether you set up a cute little coffee and tea cart for your guests to pour them selves a cup as they walk into the ceremony or you opt to replace the now classic cupcake or candy bar with a Coffee and Donut Bar – the caffeine consideration is sure to be appreciated by friends and family during a morning celebration!

CASUAL ATIRE

By having your wedding celebration in the first 1/2 of the day, you open up more casual options for the bride and groom as well as the guests.

A shorter hem-line, a little bit of poof, some embroidered flowers and of course ruffles are perfect for a morning wedding.

CAKE

Whether it’d donuts, crepes, muffins or pancake, there is just something about pastries and yummy treats at a Sunday brunch that just seems to make the whole world seem sweeter.  And isn’t that just the perfect vibe for a wedding too?!

An adorable stack of pancakes topped with fresh fruit works great as a passed nibble for when the guests arrive to the reception after the ceremony.

Donuts- one of the most casual and unassuming breakfast foods is given an elegant upgrade with a bit of pink icing and decorated with roses and babies breath.

As some one with an unabashed sweet tooth, have to say that this is for sure my favorite part of a beautiful brunch wedding……all the options for a cake!!!

AVOCADO TOAST and DEVILED EGGS

Ok, Ok……so I didn’t actually see these listed on any Why Brunch Weddings Are Great articles or witness it at any of the beautiful celebrations we have worked with….but how perfect are they for a fun & classy breakfast at a wedding?!?!?!?!

If you are a frequent enjoyer of brunches in your day-to-day life, you will for sure know that avocado toast is pretty much the business at the moment. It can be visually impressive as well as versatile and healthy, and while I know those last two are not always the goal for a wedding menu- they are certainly added bonuses!!

And keeping in tune with the versatility tone of avocado toast- deviled eggs meet the mark as well. They are also an easy and inexpensive way to feed the masses and from little kiddos to grand parents, pretty much guarantee a smile on every ones face.

COST SAVINGS

Because brunch and breakfast happens in the morning and also likely a Sunday, the price of the venue alone will be significantly less than if you booked on the more popular (and expensive) Friday or Saturday afternoon and evening.

While its not nearly as exciting to talk about or as fun as it is decide “donuts vs. waffles”, one of the realities of day time brunch wedding is that it could be a significant savings.

Kathryn & Alex 3

We were so lucky to get a change to meet Katheryn at

the Makeup In The 702 Studio before her engagement shoot at The Smith Center with the incredibly talented Kristen from KMH Photography this past spring.

It was so exciting to have Kristen share the images of Katheryn and Alex’s gorgeous wedding at Lake Las Vegas and we are pleased to share them with you!!

Kathryn & Alex 1

The beautiful bride and her equally lovely brides maids toast to all the fun and excitement the day holds for them.

It was such a good time to be able to spend the early part of the day with these sweet ladies. The love they have for their friend Katheryn and the enthusiasm for her wedding day was really special to see.

Kathryn & Alex 4

A sweet moment between the bride and her adoring father in the equally dreamy gardens at Lake Las Vegas.

Kathryn & Alex 2

The beautifully manicured gardens of The Hilton LLV set such a perfect romantic setting for Kathryn and Alex’s first look that almost hard to believe it’s in the desert.

The bridesmaids in their navy blue and the grooms men donned in black tie were the epitome of elegance.

Celebrity Weddings We Are In Love With!

Now that we are in the absolutely gallows of the summer heat and the lovely dewey mornings and mild evenings of spring are just a distant memory, photos of celebrity weddings that took place over the past few months are starting to trickle out. Below are a few of our favorite  celebrities who got married in Spring 2017.

Samira-Wiley-Wedding-Dress

This past March Orange Is the New Black actress Samira Wiley married one of the shows Lauren Morelli in an edgy modern ceremony in Palm Springs. Samira wore an elegant off the shoulder dress and Lauren wore a modern pants suit one piece, both designed by Christian Siriano.

paradise

Carly Waddell and Evan Bass from Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise tied the knot this past spring in a colorful intimate ceremony in front of family and friends in Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta resort near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The bride, Carly looked absolutely stunning with a loose side braid for her wedding day hair  and a vintage inspired grey dress.

Jessica wedding 1

As if the elegant florals and lavish decor, as well as the stunning designer dresses and completely star studded guest lists weren’t enough to swoon at while pouring over celebrities weddings, the locations of these festivities are enough to make your heart jump!! The incredibly talented, Oscar winner Jessica Chastain, married her long time boyfriend, Italian investment banker Gian Luca Passi De Preposulo, at his family estate -Villa Tiepolo Passi, which is about an hour north of Venice.

Emmy Rossum 1

One of my favorite actresses, Emmy Rossum from one of my favorite shows, Shameless, married her sweetie in a gorgeous traditional Jewish ceremony over Memorial Day weekend. While Emmy plays a gritty, hard hitting and no-holds-barred Fiona Gallagher on the show, a truly soft and loving image was portrayed at the wedding. There were hundreds and hundreds of bursting white roses, gardenias and lilies adorning the temple- it just added to the elegance of the event.

emmy-rossum-wedding-2

The lovely ceremony was attended by the bride and grooms big families as well the cast of the show (all the Gallaghers at a wedding!? Now THAT is a party!!) and the whole lot headed over to the Guggenheim for a rocking reception with a life band, a DJ, food trucks and of course…photo booth!!

Pippa Middleton

We are total suckers for any thing royal here, so when it was announced last fall the The Duchess of Cambridge’s (formally know as Kate Middleton) little sister (more famously know as Pippa Middleton) was getting married the squeals of excitement were uncontainable!!! It was so exciting to hear of little details and did bits as they trickled out during the planning, but it was almost impossible to contain the enthusiasm when the actual wedding happened.

Pippa middleton 1 While Pippa, the stylish little sister of the Duchess is not officially a “Royal”, her wedding this past spring was absolutely fit for a princess!!

Set in the English country side….CHECK!!

Saying “I Do” under the eves of a historic gothic cathedral……CHECK!!

Princess Charlotte as a bridesmaid and Prince George as a ring bearer…..CHECK!!

AND…..ATTENDED BY THE QUEEN HER SELF?!?!?!?! CHECK and CHECK!!
