It’s Bridal Show Season!!!

Well that special time of year has come……

IT’S BRIDAL SHOW SEASON!! 

The biggest and most well known event in our area for more than two decades is Bridal Spectacular, and we are so excited to be there again at

Booth #109 this August 18th and 19th.

Bridal conventions and show are a great opportunity to get some serious day dreaming and planning done in a short amount of time, but with all those vendors and attendants the job can be a bit over whelming.

So we’ve put together some tips on how to get the most out of your time there.

HAVE A PLAN

When you first walk on to the bridal show floor it can be a little bit overwhelming. The space is gigantic, the crowds can be crazy and there are literally hundreds of different vendors there that provide dozens of different wedding services- from caterers to makeup artist……they are all going to be there.  

Have an idea of your the colors you are loving at the moment. Are you wanting to be a spring bride and planning for possible showers or envisioning your first kiss under the trees as the fall colors change to deep reds and yellow? 

What about your budget? Is this something that you and your partner are going to foot the bill for? How many guests are you thinking? A small ceremony with a few dozen guests enjoying an intimate dinner? Or a rocking party with hundreds taking over the dance floor.

It will help you tremendously to keep some of these things in mind. 

ENLIST YOUR A TEAM

Unless you’re planning private and romantic elopement  (which so many of our clients do as well) you’re almost guaranteed to have a “team” or “squad” of people in your life that want to be part of your day and will do just about anything to see you and your future spouse happy at your wedding.  

Whether it’s your mom, aunt, cousins, soon-to-be-mother/sister-in-law, best girlfriend or……heck……even your brother or dad!!!!! Make these folks feel special and ask for their help and support. Walking up and down the seemingly endless aisles can be intimidating and daunting to say the least- having people by your side, who love you and have been filled in on your vision for the wedding will help keep you focused and eliminate a lot of the of the extra noise. 

ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS 

In the days leading up to the bridal show, before you even step foot in the convention center, think of what you are going there for. Great questions to ask your self are “What have I already got planned/booked/paid a deposit on?” , “What am I still missing?” , “What is my over all budget?” and “What are my “splurge” items/services?

By asking your self these questions (and really thinking about the answers) you can save a HUGE amount of time and focus your efforts at the bridal show.  If you’ve already booked your dream photog, then you can easily eliminate a few booths. If you are ordering a delicious custom cake to be delivered from your favorite bakery in your home town, then make sure to keep that in mind.

MAKE REAL CONNECTIONS

As has been mentioned, there are A LOT of vendors to see and people to meet at these mega shows, there is absolutely no possible way you are going to get to know and connect with all of them. 

Just like a networking event it’s easy to make your rounds at a bridal show, shake plenty of hands, collect lots of business cards and then get home to start looking over your look and realize you don’t even remember any of those names or what it is that they do.Makeup In The 702 Lipstick Bar-Casey Jade Photography

Once you’ve asked your self about your budget, time line, colors, theme- make the most of your time by focusing on the vendors that meet your remaining needs but are also people you genuinely like!!! As there are dozens of different services offered to brides there are also dozens of different personalities, its important to work with vendors that you vibe with. Those that see the vision for your special day.

ENJOY YOUR SELF!!!

There are countless resources- be they magazines, blogs, forums or bridal shows- go mine through while you are planning your wedding. It is important to remember what the whole celebration is about. While planning a fabulous party is always at the front of mind the most vital part of this experience is remembering that two people who love each other endlessly are coming together to celebrate that devotion. 

Don’t rush it. Don’t stress it. Take a breath and take it all in. These moments will absolutely fly by, so be sure to slow down and absorb the moment that you are currently in.

DIY Bridal Shower With A Little Help From My Friends

Picture3First and foremost I must admit I am no planner or event stylist but planning this bridal shower was so much fun I just may rethink my career. Just kidding!  I could not have done it without a little help from my friends!  Photographer Matthew Schenk from MPlace Productions, Kathryn Starrett, Catering Director, Siena Golf Club,   Tiffany Scheree Jones from Peridot Sweets, Cake and favors, Flowers from Trader Joes and of course hair and makeup for the beautiful bride to be from Makeup in the 702, favors from Williams Sonoma Designer and of course the wonderful staff at the Siena Golf Club.

A few months ago we blogged about Kylie and Jace’s engagement session with Mackenzie Taylor. Today I’m here to share Kylie’s bridal shower.

Since their wedding is in Pensacola, Florida and of course we are in the desert, I wanted to bring a bit of the beach to them with the table design and decor for the room. My inspiration for the color scheme came from the goldfish which when I started planning I knew would be the main focal point.

I accented the table with white flowers, skipping stones and orange candles to carry along the orange theme. Of course this theme was carried through on the gift table, cake table and the brunch buffet.

Throughout the planning process Kathryn kept in contact with me always willing to lend advice and a helping hand. During setup no only did she help but offered glass wear, cake stand and valuable advice to help keep my vision in line.

Thank you to all that helped make Kylie’s day as success! Stayed dialed in for Kylie & Jace’s wedding premiering in late September. Until then you can see all of us including Kylie at the Bridal Spectacular bridal show on August 21 and 22 at Cashman center. It’s your day! Have fun!

Summer is engagement season and wedding season is in full swing in Las Vegas.  This time of year is always a thrill for us as we gear up for the Bridal Specular  on August 21 and 22.  We get to meet so many planning couples this time year and get to hear so many great love stories so now is the perfect time for us to pause to take a look at a real life wedding. These photos are amazing and tell a story in and of themselves, they also remind us of the reason all of us at Makeup in the 702 do what we do!  No one tells a great love story better than a blushing beautiful bride here’s what Denise shared with us about her day and her groom.

We met on Match.com 7 months ago and have been inseparable ever since…we knew we were perfect for each other in the first few weeks and knew we were meant to be…he proposed under a tree, at our favorite park surrounded by fireflies…

We wouldn’t have gotten married any other way…he had always said if he got married, it’d be in Vegas, by Elvis and that was exactly what I wanted!  The helicopter was a double bonus to boot!!!  We had so much fun, even we couldn’t believe how awesome it was.

My advice to couples is: if you’re gonna get married, elope!!! Do the wedding for yourselves and no one else. It is YOUR day and it should be fun and stress free!!! If you want to include family and friends in your happiness, celebrate throwing a party for them later…

A Spectacular Time!

It’s always fun to start the year and the wedding season in Las Vegas by participating in the Las Vegas Bridal Spectacular.  Not only do we get to meet and chat with hundreds of newly engaged brides and their loved ones we also get to kick of the year with our friends in the Las Vegas Wedding Network.

We had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with more than 250 Brides with our “What do your lips say about you” event. We read each clients personality by evaluating the lip color they chose as well as the lip shape.

This years event was made even more extraordinary by our peers in the Las Vegas wedding industry with the winning of a Dazzle Award.   The Bridal Spectacular Dazzle Award is a peer to peer award and is given based on the votes cast by the exhibitors in the show.   It was an honor to be recognized by our peers in the wedding industry. This vote meant that not only was our event extraordinary but that our presence was felt by the wedding community and that the design of our booth was sought after.

Each season we are selected by Bridal Spectacular to sponsor their fashion shows. Our attention to details as well as being the beauty trendsetters in Las Vegas land us this honor every season. quite honestly we would not have it any other way. It’s more than enough to host an event at the booth, but then add 9 hair and makeup in a 2 hour time frame to the mix and what do you get- PURE BLISS!
